Meteorology Coastal flood watchCoastal waters

COASTAL FLOODING: The inundation of land areas along the coast caused by sea water above normal tidal actions.
COASTAL FORECAST: A forecast of wind, wave and weather conditions between the coastline and 60 miles offshore.

Coastal Flooding- the submersion of land areas along the ocean coast and other inland waters caused by sea water over and above normal tide action.

COASTAL FLOODING - Inundation of coastal areas from waves and storm surge.
COLD CORE HIGH- A dome of cold surface high pressure that originates from the high latitudes.

Coastal Flooding Flooding that occurs from storms where water is driven onto land from an adjacent body of water.

Coastal Flooding - Prolonged strong onshore flow of wind and/or high astronomical tides causing a rise in sea level that floods coastal areas.

Coastal Flooding - It's when winds and/or tides cause a rise in the sea level that floods coastal areas.
Cold Front - A boundary between two air masses, one cold and the other warm, moving so that the colder air replaces the warmer air.

Coastal flood warningIssued when there is widespread coastal flooding expected within 12 hours, more than just a typical overwash.ColdIn the winter, cold refers to four to seven degrees Celsius below normal.

Coastal FloodingFlooding which occurs when water is driven onto land from an adjacent body of water. This generally occurs when there are significant storms, such as tropical and extratropical cyclones.

Heavy rains, however, can produce significant flooding inland, and storm surges can produce extensive coastal flooding up to 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the coastline.

Storm surge can be understood by looking at the video below. The strong winds blowing towards the shore help push water towards shore on the right side of the hurricane's direction of motion. This piling up contributes to most of the coastal flooding.

Nor'easter: A strong low pressure system that affects the Mid Atlantic and New England States. It can form over land or over the coastal waters. It usually produces heavy snows, flooding rains, strong northeast winds, coastal flooding, ...

Coastal/Lakeshore Flooding (i) (Oceanic) Coastal Flooding is the inundation of land areas adjacent to bodies of salt water connected to the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, or Gulf of Mexico, caused by sea waters over and above normal tidal action.

Warnings alert the public that widespread, dangerous coastal flooding accompanied by powerful currents is possible and may continue for several hours after arrival of the initial wave.
