Continental climate

Meteorology Continental air massContinental drift

Continental climate - a drier climate with great temperature extremes throughout the year.
Convection - Air moving up and down in a quasi-circular flow, called a cell.

Continental Climate A climate lacking marine influence and characterized by more extreme temperatures than in marine climates: therefore, it has a relatively high annual temperature range for its latitude.

Continental climate-The climate of the centers of continents, with cold winters and warm or hot summers.

Humid continental climate(6)
A relatively severe climate characteristic of broad continents in the middle latitudes between approximately 40-50° north latitude.

Those accustomed to continental climates often begin to feel discomfort when the dew point reaches between 15 and 20°C (59 to 68°F). Most inhabitants of these areas will consider dewpoints above 21°C (70°F) to be oppressive.

Even in our continental climate here in Minnesota, an occasional little sister or little brother will trail along behind a major winter or spring storm system and bring some addition precipitation or wind following a significant snowfall.
