Meteorology CoromellCorposant

Coronas produced by diffraction of light
When the distance between the drops is similar to the wavelength of visible light, the light that shines through the cloud droplets is diffracted and dispersed in the manner shown below.

corona"1. A set of one or more colored rings of small angular radii concentrically surrounding the the sun, moon, or other light source when veiled by a thin cloud.

Corona- a disk of light surrounding the sun or moon; this is a result of the diffraction of light by small water droplets.
Cyclone- a body of air in which the pressure is lower than that of the surrounding air; a low or low pressure area.

Corona - the set of colored rings around the sun (or moon) created when it shines through a thin cloud ...

Corona Colored rings about the moon or sun; due to diffraction of light by spherical cloud droplets.
Cumuliform clouds Clouds that exhibit significant vertical development; often produced by updrafts in convection currents.

Corona - A bright, whitish disk centered on the Moon or Sun that results from diffraction when the objects are veiled by a thin cloud layer.

Corona (optic) A series of colored rings concentrically surrounding the disk of the sun or moon. Smaller than the halo, the corona is caused by the diffraction of light around small water droplets of uniform size.

Corona
A pastel halo around the moon or sun created by the diffraction of water droplets.

corona—A prismatically colored circle or arcs of a circle with the sun or moon at its center; coloration is from blue inside to red outside (opposite that of a halo); ...

Coronal Rain
(Abbrev. CRN) In solar-terrestrial terms, material condensing in the corona and appearing to rain down into the chromosphere as observed at the solar limb above strong sunspots.

K Corona
In solar-terrestrial terms, of the white-light corona (that is, the corona seen by the eye at a total solar eclipse), that portion which is caused by sunlight scattered by electrons in the hot outer atmosphere of the sun.

Corona: a white or colored circle or set of concentric circles of light of small radius seen around a luminous body, esp. around the sun or moon.

Also known as corposant or corona discharge. SALINITY A measure of the quantity of dissolved salts in sea water. The total amount of dissolved solids in sea water in parts per thousand by weight.

ChromosphereIn solar-terrestrial terms, the layer of the solar atmosphere above the photosphere and beneath the transition region and the corona.

Green LineThe green line is one of the strongest (and first-recognized) visible coronal lines. It identifies moderate temperature regions of the CORONA.

Coronagraph An instrument for photographing the corona and prominences of the sun at times other than at solar eclipse. Cotton-region shelter A medium-sized instrument shelter.

When the sun is seen through the cloud, its outline is clearly discernible, and it may be accompanied by corona phenomena. In the immediate area of the solar disk, stratus may appear very white.

Solar Wind A continuous plasma stream expanding into interplanetary space from the sun's corona. The solar wind is present continuously in interplanetary space.

Corona: A colored glow around the sun.
Cross Section Of The Atmosphere : Looking at the atmosphere from a vertical point.
Cumulus Cloud:Puffy white fair weather clouds that result from rising air currents (Thermals).

SAINT ELMOS FIRE - A glow or corona effect caused by ionization of air in an electric field. Common atop tall poles or objects prior to a lightning strike. Appears as a bluish or greenish glow around the top of the pole or object.

They make up cirriform clouds, frost, and ice fog. Also, they produce optical phenomena such as halos, coronas, and sun pillars. May be called "diamond dust." It is reported as "IC" in an observation and on the METAR.
