DAILY MEAN The average temperature for a day computed by averaging either the hourly readings or, more commonly, the maximum and minimum temperatures.

Degree Day- a measure of the departure of the daily mean temperature from the normal daily temperature; heating and cooling Degree Days are the departure of the daily mean temperature from sixty-five degrees Fahrenheit.

A cooling degree day is given for each degree that the daily mean temperature departs above the baseline of 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

HEATING DEGREE DAY
One heating degree day is given for each degree that the daily mean temperature is below 65°F. It is used as an indication of fuel consumption.

Growing Degree Day - A form of degree day to estimate the approximate dates when a crop will be ready to harvest. one growing degree day occurs when the daily mean temperature is one degree above the minimum temperature required for the growth of ...

H0390 Heating degree-day Type of degree-day used as an indication of fuel consumption. One heating degree-day is counted for each degree that the daily mean temperature is lower than a base temperature, e.g. 19°C.

freezing level during the month of November is associated with a number of other significant changes in climate during the month including: over a 1 hour reduction in daylength (over 10 hrs to just over 9 hrs); an 18 degree decline in daily mean ...

The true daily mean, obtained from a thermograph, is approximated by the mean of 24 hourly readings and may differ by 1.0 degrees C from the average based on minimum and maximum readings. The global average surface air temperature is 15 degrees C.
