Median and Deciles
To calculate deciles, we divide the ranked dataset into ten parts. The median is simply that value which marks the level dividing the ranked dataset in half.

Deciles
Used to give an element a ranking. For example, a decile rainfall map will show whether the rainfall is above average, average or below average for a chosen time period and area.
