Equilibrium Level

Meteorology Equatorial troughEquilibrium line

Equilibrium Level (or EL) - On a sounding, the level above the level of free convection (LFC) at which the temperature of a rising air parcel again equals the temperature of the environment. (See Fig. 6, sounding.) ...

Equilibrium Level (EL) It is the height in the upper troposphere where a parcel of saturated air, rising because of its positive buoyancy, becomes equal in temperature to the surrounding environment.

EL - Equilibrium Level. The level where unstable air becomes stable again.
Entrainment - The act of air being drawn into a cloud from the non-cloud environment.

overshooting top"(Or anvil dome, penetrating top.) A domelike protrusion above a cumulonimbus anvil, representing the intrusion of an updraft through its equilibrium level (level of neutral buoyancy).
