FIRST GUST Another name for the initial wind surge observed at the surface as the result of downdrafts forming the leading edge or gust front of a thunderstorm.
first gust—The leading edge of the spreading downdraft, plow wind, from an approaching thunderstorm. flow line—A streamline.
STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS Any surface wind that is not associated with rotation. An example is the first gust from a thunderstorm, as opposed to tornadic winds.
