Flash Flood Warning

Flash Flood Warning- This warning signifies a short duration of intense/rapid flooding of counties, communities, streams, or urban areas. Flash floods may result from such things as torrential downpours, dam breaks, or ice jam breaks.

Issued to inform the public, emergency management, and other cooperating agencies that flash flooding is in progress, imminent, or highly likely.

Flash Flood Warning - It's issued to alert the public, emergency management, and other cooperating agencies that flash flooding is in progress or is likely to happen.

Short-fuse warnings include tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, and flash flood warnings.

If the severe thunderstorm is also causing torrential rains, this warning may also be combined with a Flash Flood Warning. After it has been issued, the affected NWFO will followed it up periodically with Severe Weather Statements.

Flash Flood Warnings:Flash Flood Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service when heavy rains have
occurred and rising streams and rivers will produce flooding.
Fog: A cloud with its base is on the ground.

If the thunderstorm which is causing the tornado is also producing torrential rains, this warning may also be combined with a Flash Flood Warning.

Warnings are statements of imminent danger and are issued for relatively small areas near and downstream from the severe storm or flood. For example, Tornado Warning, Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Flash Flood Warning, Winter Storm Warning.
