Ground Clutter

Ground Clutter - a pattern of radar echoes from fixed ground targets (buildings, hills, etc.) near the radar.

GROUND CLUTTER- (a.k.a. Doppler Garbage). These are false precipitation or velocity echoes on radar that are produced by obstacles near the radar site.
GUIDANCE (GUID)- Forecast model data that helps a forecaster make a forecast. ...

Ground clutter Reflection of radar signals by fixed objects such as buildings on the Earth's surface. ...

ground clutter—Pertaining to radar, a cluster of echoes, generally at short range, reflected from ground targets.

Ground Clutter
Another class of non-precipitation echo is "ground clutter". These reflections are usually caused by obstacles on the ground, including buildings, mountains, antenna towers, etc.

GROUND CLUTTER - False reflectivity showing up on a radar image caused by reflection of the radar beam by nearby ground obstacles. Abbreviated as GC.

Ground ClutterA pattern of radar echoes from fixed ground targets (buildings, hills, etc.) near the radar. Ground clutter may hide or confuse precipitation echoes near the radar antenna.

Back Scatter: A signal that is energy reflected by precipitation or ground clutter.
Ball Lightning: It is a rare ball of electrical charged air redish in color which last for a very short duration.

This causes the beam to be lower than indicated, and often results in extensive ground clutter as well as an overestimation of cloud top heights.

For a weather radar, clutter usually refers to echoes from ground targets in the main lobe or sidelobes of the antenna pattern (ground clutter) but might also refer to apparent echoes caused by interference from other radar or radio sources.

However, other factors can affect reflectivity, such as width of the radar beam, precipitation type, drop size, or the presence of ground clutter or AP.

Precipitation or other phenomena which produces echoes on a radar display.

NEXRAD Doppler radar is highly sensitive and can detect precipitation from very light rain and snow up to the strongest thunderstorms with accuracy and detail. However, sometimes the radar's extreme sensitivity will cause ground clutter and other ...
