Knot: A measure of speed. It is one nautical mile per hour. Never refer to "knots per hour" unless you want to describe acceleration.

Knot: Unit of speed equivalent to one nautical mile per hour, that is, 1.852 meters per hour.

Knot- Unit of speed normally used for marine and aviation purposes. One knot (one nautical mile per hour) is equal to 1.15 mph or 0.5144 m/s.

knot"The unit of speed in the nautical system; one nautical mile per hour. It is equal to 1.1508 statute miles (1.852 km) per hour or 1.687 ft (0.5144 m) per second.

Knot Unit of speed used in aviation and marine activities which is equal to 1 nautical mile per hour or about 1.15 statue miles an hour.

KNOT: A unit of speed, one nautical mile per hour or approximately 1.15 statute miles per hour. The nautical mile is closely related to the geographical mile which is defined as the length of one minute of arc on the earth's equator.

KNOT: One nautical mile per hour (1.15 mph).
LAND BREEZE: A wind that blows from the land towards a body of water. Also known as an offshore breeze.
LA NIŅA: A cooling of the equatorial waters in the Pacific Ocean.

Knot
Unit of speed used in aviation and marine activities to measure the speed of the wind. It is equal to about 1.15 statue mile ore 1.84 km per hour.

Knot: a measure of speed equal to the velocity of one nautical mile traveled in one hour. Usually used in marine studies. One knot equals 1.151 miles per hour or 1.852 kilometers per hour.

Knot- the unit used to measure wind speed, equal to 1.15 statute miles per hour.
- L -
Land Breeze- a coastal breeze that blows from land out to sea, and is the result of temperature differences when the sea is warmer then the adjacent land.

Knot
A speed of one nautical mile per hour. Miles per hour equals knots plus one seventh.

KNOT- A unit of wind measurement found by taking the wind speed in miles per hour and dividing it by 1.15.
LAKE EFFECT SNOW- Snow produced from lifting of moisture from a large lake such as the Great Lakes.

Knot
Unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour (1.852 km/h).
Lake Effect Snowstorm
Snowstorm occurring on the shore of a lake or downwind from a lake, arising as a result of the modification of the air during its passage over the water.

Knot- A unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour. One knot equals 1.15 mid/hr.
L
Lake breeze- A wind blowing onshore from the surface of a lake.

Knot- A measure of speed. It is one nautical mile per hour (1.15 mph). A nautical mile is one minute of one degree of latitude.

KNOT - One nautical mile per hour. A nautical (air or sea) mile is about 6,076 feet and is about 1.15 times a SATUTE (land) mile of 5,280 feet. One KNOT is about 1.15 MPH.

K0220 Knot Unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour (1.852 km h-1).
K0230 Kolmogoroff cascade Transfer of kinetic energy from large eddies to progres-sively smaller eddies, eventually to random molecular motions (heat).

Calm Wind with a speed below 1 knot (1 mph); Beaufort scale number 0. Calorie A unit of heat originally defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of water through one degree centigrade (the gram-calorie or small calorie), ...

Knot(abbrev. Kt) Unit of speed used in navigation, equal to 1 nautical mile (the length of 1 minute latitude) per hour or about 1.15 statute miles per hour, or 0.5 meters/sec).

The forecast track error is added to the 34 knot wind radii to compute the danger area. The wind radii may be found within Tropical Cyclone Forecast Advisory (TCM) forecasts.

KNOT A nautical unit of speed equal to the velocity at which one nautical mile is traveled in one hour. Used primarily by marine interests and in weather observations. A knot is equivalent to 1.151 statute miles per hour or 1.852 kilometers per hour.

Because of its structure, the severe storm may last for hours beyond the lifetime of a normal thunderstorm while producing large hail, high winds, torrential rain, and possible tornadoes. Officially, a thunderstorm is classified as severe if 50-knot ...

Marine Small Craft Wind WarningA marine warning issued by Environment Canada Atmospheric Environment Branch for winds which are forecasted to be in the 20-33 knot range inclusive.
