LITHOMETEOR Atmospheric phenomena which affect the state of the atmosphere. They constitute dry particles that hang suspended in the atmosphere, such as dust, smoke, sand, and haze.
lithometeor—The general term for dry particles suspended in the atmosphere such as dust, haze, smoke, and sand.

Foreign particulate matter in the atmosphere resulting from combustion processes; a type of lithometeor. When smoke is present, the disk of the sun at sunrise and sunset appears very red, and during the daytime has a reddish tinge.
Haze Fine dust or salt particles dispersed through a portion of the atmosphere; a type of lithometeor.
