OROGRAPHIC LIFTING
Where the flow of air is forced up and over barriers such as highlands or mountains. Moist air being forced aloft begins to cool, consequently condensation forms, and rain or snow begins to fall.

Orographic Uplift
Same as Orographic Lifting; occurs when air is forced to rise and cool due to terrain features such as hills or mountains. If the cooling is sufficient, water vapor condenses into clouds.

Orographic Lifting (Upslope Flow) Occurs when air is forced to rise and cool due to terrain features such as hills or mountains. If the cooling is sufficient, water vapor condenses into clouds. Additional cooling results in rain or snow.

OROGRAPHIC UPLIFT: The vertical forcing of air by terrain features such as hills or mountains. This can create orographic clouds and/or precipitation.

Orographic lifting The forced rising of air up the slopes of a hill or mountain.

Orographic precipitation, also known as relief precipitation, is precipitation generated by a forced upward movement of air upon encountering a physiographic upland (see anabatic wind).

OROGRAPHIC - Effects of mountains or high terrain on the weather. Orographic lift can result from a wind blowing against a mountain ridge forcing it upwards. This can take relatively stable air and force in aloft causing convective clouds.

Forced aloft the rising air cools by expansion and clouds result as we often see along the Blue Mountains north of the Lehigh Valley.

These clouds appear most often in formations of orographic origin, the result of lee waves, in which case they remain nearly stationary with respect to the terrain (standing cloud), but they also occur in regions without marked orography.
