The Rapid Update Cycle (RUC) is an atmospheric prediction system that consists primarily of a numerical forecast model and an analysis system to initialize the model.
Rapid Update Cycle (RUC)- A short range model that projects a 12 hour forecast. The model is run each hour, with its initial conditions updated by the inclusion of the latest surface observations available.
RUC - Rapid Update Cycle A numerical model run at NCEP that focuses on short-term (up to 12 hours) forecasts and small-scale weather features. Forecasts are prepared every 3 hours for the contiguous United States.
RAPID UPDATE CYCLE - A rapidly updated numerical model ran every 3 hours at NCEP (National Center for Environmental Prediction). This model emphasizes mesoscale weather, such as thunderstorms on a short term basis up to 12 hours. Abbreviated as RUC.
RUC - Rapid Update Cycle model generated every 3 hours. The model is run each hour, with its initial conditions updated by the inclusion of the latest surface observations available.
