Meteorology Rapidly intensifyingRayleigh scattering

Rawinsonde Radiosonde which is tracked by radar or radio-theodolite to measure the wind aloft.

rawinsonde"An upper-air sounding that includes determination of wind speeds and directions. Historically, wind data were obtained by tracking a balloon-borne radiosonde with a radio direction finder.

rawinsonde - An upper-air weather observation system (from the surface to approximately 30 km altitude) made by balloon-borne instrument package (radiosonde) that provides direct measurement of ambient air temperature, pressure, ...

RAWINSONDE An upper air observation that evaluates the winds, temperature, relative humidity, and pressure aloft by means of a balloon-attached radiosonde that is tracked by a radar or radio direction-finder.

Rawinsonde A balloon that is tracked by radar to measure wind speeds and wind directions in the atmosphere.

Rawinsonde Observation: A radiosonde observation which includes wind data.

RAWINSONDE: A method of upper air observation consisting of an evaluation of the wind speed and direction, temperature, pressure, and humidity aloft by means of a balloon-borne radiosonde tracked by radar or a radio theodolite.

Rawinsonde An instrument carried by weather balloons to measure the temperature, humidity, pressure, and winds of the atmosphere.
Refraction The bending of light as it passes from one medium to another ...

rawinsonde observation—A combined winds aloft and radiosonde observation. Winds are determined by tracking the radiosonde by radio direction finder or radar.

Rawinsonde weather balloon just after launch. Notice a parachute in the center of the string and a small instrument box at the end. After release it measures many parameters.

Radiosonde (Rawinsonde): An instrument package carried upward by weather balloons to measure the vertical profile of atmospheric temperature, relative humidity and pressure from the surface into the stratosphere.

It is a type of rawinsonde system. Rain Precipitation composed of liquid water drops more than 0.5 mm in diameter, falling in relatively straight, but not necessarily vertical, paths. Compare to drizzle.

A type of rawinsonde. RADIAL VELOCITY A type of velocity that expresses motion toward or away from a given location. In Doppler radar, it is the component of motion that is parallel to the radar beam.

RAWIN: A rawinsonde observation.
RAWINSONDE: Tracking a radiosonde aloft to determine the wind speed and directions up to 100,000+ feet.
Red Sprites: Large dim flashes of light which appear above thunderstorms.

MIXING RATIO CHART- Used by forecasters to determine moisture content on a constant pressure surface. Rawinsonde data is used to produce this chart.

pressure and humidity by means of a small, expendable radio transmitter. Radiosondes can be tracked by radar, radio direction finding, or navigation systems (such as the satellite Global Positioning System) to obtain wind data. See also rawinsonde.

" Another type is a "rawinsonde," which is a radiosonde that is tracked by either radar or or a radio direction finder such that wind direction and speed aloft can be plotted for various vertical layers.
