SANDSTORM
A strong wind carrying sand particles through the air. They are low level occurences, usually only ten feet in height to not more than fifty feet above the surface.

Dustbusting This word may have several meanings, but for agricultural researchers it refers specifically to management techniques designed to mitigate wind erosion, especially of the type that produces dust and sandstorms.

Haboob A strong wind and sandstorm (or duststorm) in the northern and central Sudan, especially around Khartum, where the average number is about 24 per year. The name come from the Arabic word, "habb", meaning wind.

This complex had the appearance of a haboob, a dense sandstorm that occurs along the leading edge of outflow boundaries of desert thunderstorms in North Africa.

The same can happen in a sandstorm in and near desert areas, or with forest fires. Heavy rain (such as from a thunderstorm) not only causes low visibility, but the inability to brake quickly due to hydroplaning.
