Station Elevation

Meteorology StatementStation identifier

climatological station elevation"The elevation above mean sea level chosen as the reference datum level for all climatological records of atmospheric pressure in a given locality; not necessarily the same as station elevation.

STATION ELEVATION The vertical distance above mean sea level that is the reference level for all current measurements of atmospheric pressure at that station. STATION PRESSURE The atmospheric pressure with respect to the station elevation.

(4) The removal correction is applied when the barometer elevation differs from the adopted station elevation and/or climatological station elevation. See also capacity correction. U.S.

A measure (or condition) of height, especially with respect to the height of a point on the earth's surface above a reference plane (usually mean sea level), as "station elevation.

ELEVATION The measure of height with respect to a point on the earth's surface above mean sea level. Sometimes referred to as station elevation.
