SUBTROPICAL AIR An air mass that forms over the subtropical region. The air is typically warm with a high moisture content due to the low evaporative process.

 


Polar JetMarked by a concentration of isotherms and strong vertical shear, this jet is the boundary between the polar air and the subtropical air.

The boundary between subtropical air and tropical air, marked by a concentration of isotherms and vertical shear. Migrates north in the southern hemisphere winter.

Polar Front: Front that separates the Polar Air Mass from the Subtropical Air Mass.
Precipitation: Any form of water, liquid or solid, derived from the atmosphere that falls to the earth's surface. It can be rain, snow, hail etc.
