True Wind Direction

true wind direction—The direction, with respect to true north, from which the wind is blowing.
turbulence—In meteorology, any irregular or disturbed flow in the atmosphere.

 


Distinguish from true wind direction. Magneto anemometer A cup anemometer with its shaft mechanically coupled to a magneto. Magnetograph A recording magnetometer.

To obtain an accurate reading, the weather vane must be located well above the ground and away from buildings, trees, and other objects which interfere with the true wind direction.

True Wind Direction: Which way the wind is blowing from in relationship to true north.
Tsunamis: Giant ocean waves caused by underwater earthquakes or volcanic eruption.
Turbulence: A disturbed flow of air in the atmosphere.
