tundra"(Also called arctic desert.) Treeless plains that lie poleward of the tree line. The plants thereon are sedges, mosses, lichens, and a few small shrubs.

 


Tundra Climate Found almost exclusively in the northern hemisphere or at high altitudes in many mountainous regions. A treeless climatic realm of sedges, grasses, mosses, and lichens that is dominated by a long, bitterly cold winter.

The Nordenskjold line is used to estimate the arctic tree line, which denotes the boundary between the Boreal forest and tundra.

Permafrost- a soil layer below the surface of tundra regions that remains frozen permanently.
Partly Cloudy- the appearance of the sky when 3/10ths to 6/10ths of the sky is covered with clouds.

Biome Well-defined terrestrial environment (e.g., desert, tundra, or tropical forest). The complex of living organisms found in an ecological region.
