A warning is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, is imminent, or has a very high probability of occurring.

Warning - A product issued by NWS local offices indicating that a particular weather hazard is either imminent or has been reported. A warning indicates the need to take action to protect life and property.

WARNING
A forecast issued when severe weather has developed, is already occurring and reported, or is detected on radar.

Warnings - forecasts of hazardous weather, usually for the next 12 to 24 hours, including:

WARNING: Forecast issued when a particular hazard is "imminent" or already occurring (e.g., tornado warning, flash flood warning).

Warning- is used when severe weather conditions are occurring, imminent or are expected within the following twelve to twenty-four hours.

Warnings: Issued when a hazardous weather is occurring or about to occur.
Watches: Issued when the risk of hazardous weather is significant.
Waterspout: A type of whirlwind that forms underneath cumulus clouds over a large body of water.

warning: for a tornado, thunderstorm, flood, or hurricane. Indicates that the event is definitely going to happen or is in the process of occurring. Issued by the U.S. National Weather Service.

WARNING - is issued when severe or hazardous weather has already developed and has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar.

Warning Stage- The level of a river or stream which may cause minor flooding, and at which concerned interests should take action.

Warning - Issued when hazardous weather or hydrologic conditions exist, are imminent or are highly likely to occur. Warnings are issued for conditions that pose a threat to life or property.

Gale Warning: The National Weather Service will issue these marine warnings for 1-minute sustained winds between 34 (39 mph or 63 kph) and 47 knots (54 mph or 87 kph) are expected at end of downwind fetch (nearshore or open waters).

GALE WARNING A warning for marine interests for impending winds from 28 to 47 knots (32 to 54 miles per hour).

Gale Warning - A warning of sustained surface winds, or frequent gusts, in the range of 34 knots (39 mph) to 47 knots (54 mph) inclusive, either predicted or occurring, and not directly associated with a tropical cyclone.

Sustained wins 39-54 miles an hour (34-47 knots) either predicted or occuring. Note: Gale warnings are not normally issued during tropical cyclones.

Storm Warning
A warning of 1-minute sustained surface winds of 48 kt (55 mph or 88 kph) or greater, either predicted or occurring, not directly associated with tropical cyclones.

Gale Warning: A warning of 1-minute sustained surface winds in the range 34 kt (39 mph or 63 km/hr) to 47 kt (54 mph or 87 km/hr) inclusive, either predicted or occurring and not directly associated with tropical cyclones.

Flood Warning
(FLW) In hydrologic terms, a release by the NWS to inform the public of flooding along larger streams in which there is a serious threat to life or property. A flood warning will usually contain river stage (level) forecasts.

Flood Warning (FLW): This warning signifies a longer duration and more gradual flooding of counties, communities, streams, or urban areas. Floods usually begin after 6 hours of excessive rainfall.

Weather warning Warning issued when hazardous weather is observed or imminent.
Weather watch Issued when hazardous weather is considered possible based on current or anticipated atmospheric conditions.

Weather Warning Statement that dangerous weather is likely or is occurring. Take action.
Weather Watch Statement about a particularly dangerous weather system that may occur at some specified time in the future.

WARNING: A public notice issued by the National Weather Service when a certain hazard (tornado, severe thunderstorm, flood or winter storm) is imminent.

Warning- A threatening weather condition is occuring as indicated by a radar or spotter, or is expected to occur or strike an area very soon.

Warning - A forecast issued by the National Weather Service indicating that a specific weather event is actually occurring.

WARNING - Means that severe weather is occurring. A hurricane (or typhoon) warning usually is issued 24 hours before the core of the storm is to come by.

Hazard Warning: Restricted visibility.
Advection fog often looks like Radiation Fog and is also the result of condensation.

Weather Warnings:Weather Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service when hazardous weather is possible or
has occurred or the atmospheric conditions are considered right for severe weather to occur.

Avalanche warnings have been issued for the southern San Juan Mountains and the Grand Mesa in western Colorado.
Temperatures will be quite varied Tuesday, ranging from around 20 across Weld County to the mid 40s across Douglas County.

A Tornado Warning is issued by your local National Weather Service office (NWFO). It will include where the tornado was located and what towns will be in its path.

Heed their warning!!
Plan ahead where you would go -- it may be beneficial to choose a few places like an out of town friend's home or a designated shelter, etc.
Take the phone numbers of these places with you.

Blizzard Warning
Issued for winter storms with sustained or frequent winds of 35 mph or higher with considerable falling and/or blowing snow that frequently reduces visibility to 1/4 of a mile or less.

Hurricane warning: A warning that sustained winds 64 kt (74 mph or 119 kph) or higher associated with a hurricane are expected in a specified coastal area in 24 hours or less.

Hurricane Warning - A warning issued when sustained winds of 119 kilometers per hour or higher are expected within a specified coastal area in 24 hours or less.

When tornado warnings are issued, members of the public are advised to get into sheltered areas. In most buildings, it is recommended to seek shelter in a central, windowless room or corridor, below ground if possible.

CWA- County Warning Area
CYCLONE- This is in reference to a low pressure system.
CYCLOGENESIS- The intensification of a low pressure system.

Like a Tornado Warning, the Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued by your National Weather Service Forecast Office (NWFO).

This is an important necessity within the severe weather warning program. Despite advances in warning and forecasting techniques (e.g., Doppler radar), the human eye will always be a vital part of any effective warning system.

For example, a warning or watch may be issued based on either a forecast or observation of severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, river flooding, high winds, winter storms, etc.
