Weather
The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc.

Weather warnings
In Australia, state by state warnings of impending or actual weather that has the potential to cause loss of life or damage to property. These are issued by the BoM.

WEATHERING The decay and breakup of rocks on the earth's surface by natural chemical and mechanical processes. The mechanical action includes large changes of temperature, extreme temperatures, frost, or the impact of wind borne sand or water.

Weather Balloon- Large balloon filled with helium or hydrogen that carries a radiosonde (weather instrument) aloft to measure temperature pressure and humidity as the balloon rises through the air.

Dry Weather Flow
In hydrologic terms, streamflow which results from precipitation that infiltrates into the soil and eventually moves through the soil to the stream channel. This is also referred to as baseflow, or ground water flow.

ACID RAIN: Cloud droplets combining with gaseous pollutants, such as oxides of sulfur and nitrogen, to make falling rain or snow acidic.

absolute humidity- the mass of water vapor in a unit volume of air.

Air-Mass - Weather The conditions experienced in an area as an air mass passes over it. Because air masses are large and relatively homogeneous, air-mass weather will be fairly constant and may last for several days.

Troposphere - The layer of the atmosphere from the ground to around 33,000 feet (10 kilometers). This is where much of the weather we experience occurs.
Volume - The amount of space occupied by a substance or object.

weather - The state of the atmosphere, mainly with respect to its effects upon life and human activities. As distinguished from climate, weather consists of the short-term (minutes to days) variations in the atmosphere.

Weather Forecast Office (WFO): This National Weather Service office is responsible for issuing advisories, warnings, statements, and short term forecasts for its county warning area.

Past weather Predominant characteristic of the weather which had existed at an observing station during a given period of time (during the preceding hour or six hours), specified in the international SYNOP code.

NOAA Weather Radio
A 24-hour continuous broadcast of existing and forecasted weather conditions.
Nocturnal Cooling
Lowering of air temperature caused by nocturnal radiation.

NOAA WEATHER RADIO (NWR)- Continuous, 24 hour-a-day VHF broadcasts of weather observations and forecasts directly from National Weather Service offices. A special tone allows certain receivers to alarm when watches or warnings are issued.

WEATHER AND CHASING TERMINOLOGY
123 RULE - Weighted average of tropical cyclone forecast errors (in nautical miles) based on historical information. This rule implies a "1" for the first forecast period, 24 hours, as a 100-mile error.

Weather Map - a map or chart showing the principal meteorological elements at a given time and over an extended region
Weather Radar - any radar which can be used to detect precipitation or clouds ...

Weather - The condition of the air around the earth. It is the condition at a certain time and a certain place.

Weather - the observable and measure conditions of the outdoor atmosphere.
Wind chill - a pseudo temperature which lets people know what the cooling effect of the wind would feel like.

Weather Synopsis- a description of weather patterns affecting a large area.
Wind- air in motion relative to the surface of the earth.

Weather: The current state of the atmosphere at a particular location.
Wien's Law: A radiation law that describes why hotter objects give off most of their radiant energy at shorter wavelengths than do cooler objects.

Weather elements The elements of air temperature, air pressure, humidity, clouds, precipitation, visibility, and wind that determine the present state of the atmosphere, the weather.

Weather Terms
Clear: Sky cloud-free to 30 percent covered.
Sunny: Sunshine 70-100 percent of the day.
Partly sunny and partly cloudy: Both terms refer to 40 to 70 percent cloud cover.
