WET BULB DEPRESSION
Dependent on the temperature and the humidity of the air, it is the difference between the dry bulb and the wet bulb readings.

Wet Bulb Depression: The difference between the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature. Example: Dry Bulb = 70 Degs. F. Wet Bulb = 60 degs. F. The Depression is 10 degrees.

The point at which the row and the column intersects is the percentage humidity in the air. For example, if the dry bulb temperature is 20°C, and the wet bulb depression is 5.5°C, then the humidity is 55 percent.

When ventilated, the instrument indicates the dry-bulb and wet-bulb temperatures. Dewpoint and relative humidity can be determined from the wet bulb depression using a psychrometric table. See also hygrometer.
