Ampere Hour Capacity
The number of ampere hours which can be delivered by a cell under specified conditions such as temperature, rate of discharge and final voltage.

Ampere or Amp
A unit of measure for determining the strength of electrical flow in a circuit. Most often abbreviated as Amps. The higher the amperage, the greater the flow, or volume, of current passing through the circuit.

A volt-ampere in electrical terms, means the amount of apparent power in an alternating current circuit equal to a current of one ampere at an emf of one volt. It is equivalent to watts for non-reactive circuits.

Motors turn when amperes flow through their coils. Power supplies are the source of the voltage that pushes the amps along. Our problems lie along the path between supply and motor.

Ammeter - Meter used to measure current strength; How many amperes are being used by a motor or other electrical equipment.
Ampere or Amp - Unit used to measure electrical current strength.

If the amperes drawn exceed the pack's capacity, the pack begins to overheat. The pack that comes with a starter train set (rated as low as 7 volt-amps, or just 0.7 amps delivered at 10 volts) will run one (maybe two) locomotives at the same time.

Resistance needed (ohms) = (supplied voltage - voltage rating of the lamp) divided by current (ampere) rating of lamp (in amps, not milliamps).
