In earlier Conrail days that used manual block system rules. When the NORAC rulebook came into being MBS was replaced with form D rules. The form D is akin to a track warrant.

Automatic Block System, or Automatic Block Signal (ABS)
RAILWAYS. A train control system. I believe that ABS is a relatively primitive system compared with CTC and CTS.

Trains in the exhibit operate on a DC block system rather than the more modern DCC mode many railroad modelers have adopted.

ORANGE = supply to the circuit - BLUE = signal wire from block - YELLOW = common of circuit and block system.
The LEDs indicates a train detection. The output is optoisolated.
The individual circuit boards were left attached for ease of installation.

We common folk with block systems have our own easy "THINK SMALL" solution. If your railroad has fifteen blocks or the whole railroad is just one block your roundhouse tracks and turntable are probably wired like Figure C.
