Malley Reference to the Mallet Articulated Cab Forward steam locomotives used by Southern Pacific railroad in the 30's, 40's and 50's.

Cab Forward - Articulated type steam engine, popular on Southern Pacific RR. Engines were reversed; cylinders toward the back, cab and smoke stack at front.

Cab forwards or Big-Boys would look silly pulling a local passenger, mixed or freight into this SMALL branch line terminal. Suitable motive power would be a ten wheeler or less for passenger and a light consolidation or mogul for freight.
