Catenary

Model railroad CastingCentralized Traffic Control

Catenary Overhead wires for electrical locomotives.
Code Height of rail in thousandths of an inch. Code 83 rail is .083" tall.

Catenary
A system of overhead trolley wires that carry electric current, in which the contact wire is hung from another wire that hangs in a catenary curve; also, any or all of the overhead trolley wire system.

Catenary - The overhead wires that provide the power used to propel non-third rail pickup equipped electric locomotives, interurbans, and trolleys.

...

Catenary System. A system of wires suspended between poles and bridges supporting overhead contact wires normally energized with electricity.
Cattle guard. See Stock guard.

Catenary
A system of overhead wires suspended over the track to provide power for electric-type locomotives.
Cinder Pit ...

Catenary
That part of the overhead wiring on electric railways, which hangs between the supporting masts and from which the dropper wires are hung.
Cess
The area alongside and below the level of a railway track into which rain water is drained.

The catenary connector. The bent metal frame, called a "pantograph," is flexible and rises and lowers itself to maintain contact with overhead wires. Notice the many insulators.

Overhead Catenary Construction
When deciding to build the catenary I followed the example of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which used a much simpler tower than the New Haven's earlier trusses.

Mid-Point A length of cable designed to maintain tension in a specific direction of a span of Catenary at approx. the middle of the span of wire. Usually one mid-point tensioning cable to strung in each direction.

Catenary Overhead wire system on elecricfied railroads for suppling current to electric locomotives and self-propelled cars equipped with pantographs.

Catenary or catenary structure: the overhead wire system used to send electricity to an electric locomotive or multiple unit, tram or light rail vehicle.
Carman (US): a mechanic responsible for maintaining and inspecting the rolling stock.

In addition to the track sectioning cabins, catenary isolators will be provided at strategic locations (crossovers and junctions) to facilitate maintenance and to minimise the operational impact of any catenary incident.

Catenary - Supporting cable for the conductor wire of an overhead electrification system.
Chassis - Framework or underbody of a locomotive, or cars.
Cinder Pit - As ash pit.
Circuit - The path of an electrical current.

Wires hanging from a catenary on to which the contact wire for railway electrification is attached.
Dual-Fitted Stock
Rolling stock which is fitted with both vacuum brake and air brake systems.

An EMU is powered from an outside power source such as the overhead catenary or a third running rail.
End-To-End : The type of layout where your train starting at one end will eventually have to stop before it can be returned to it's starting point.
