The fascia board is installed but we have a serious gap problem.
Stuff the cracks the same way as with the seams in the foam using paper towels.

Towers, junctions and towns get name signs on the fascia at their location. Each building needs a sign with the company name. This way, your operators will know where they are, or be able to find their way to where they are supposed to be.

Large parts, such as automotive fascia and body panels, can be molded in this manner. Polyurethane RIM evolved into a number of different products and processes.

An alternative to this would be to put your small map right on the fascia using stencils or tape and then drill and fasten the switches directly to the fascia in the proper positions on the map.

A friend with a fancy kit turntable (metal pan and real wheels on the pit rails) tried a belt drive connected to a hand wheel on the fascia. He says the slipping belt and jerky operation were not for his railroad.

I will also be adding fascia board along the edges of the layout to give it a more finished look. I have been working on this project for two-and-a-half years, and I don't even consider it to be half done! ...

Pine boards & plywood are commonly used on the construction of layouts. Hard woods are sometimes used to "finish" the front of the layout (fascia).
