Model railroad Feed BackFiddle Yard

Feeder Wire--smaller gauge wire (usually #22 or #20 - the lower number is thicker wire) that feeds from a main wire under the layout up to various points along the track to preclude voltage drops and maintain constant current.

Feeder
1) A short branch road feeding traffic to a mainline.
2) [MR] Power connection from the power pack to track and elsewhere on model railroad.

Feeder wires should be added about every 3 feet to assure that all sections of your track get an adequate amount of amperage to run your trains smoothly.

Feeder
In model railroading, a power connection from the transformer or power pack to the track, and then on to another portion of the trackwork. Also a short branch road feeding traffic to a main line.

Run two-track feeder wires from your reversing block of the Wye, Block number 8, to the terminal board positions marked Cab A Reverse Out.

A better idea is to run feeders the length of the layout and connect leads from them to each accessory. Color coding helps immensely in tracing faulty wires and shorts.

Radio signals can be diffused by broadcast or leaky cable feeders.UoS Automatic Train Protection (ATP) The subsystem within the overall train control system which automatically ensures compliance with or observation of some or all speed restrictions ...

Feeder - Power connection from the power pack to track and elsewhere on model railroad; Also a short branch road feeding traffic to a mainline.
Fiddle Yard - A modeling term for a set of sidings where trains are terminated and stored.

In many countries narrow gauge railroads were built as "feeder" or "branch" lines to feed traffic to more important standard gauge railroads, due to their lower construction costs.

Generous size copper feeder wire with frequent connections to the rails is the answer. Example: one fair size club layout has 12 gauge feeders with connections to code 83 rails every six feet or less.

I soldered 18-gage feeder wires to the track in each block and ran the wire to the block's terminal strip. I ran power to each terminal strip using 12-gage house wiring.

Twenty gage, flexible wire feeders from the mainline wire busses were run to their respective rails, with every section of flex track receiving a set of feeders.

The common method is to insulate the reverse loop at both ends, run separate feeder wires from the power pack to the loop, and install a double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) toggle switch between the power pack and the non-loop feeder wires.

Run multiple feeders at different locations.
Solder wires to railjoiners to make your feeder connections.
Make secure contacts. Use wire nuts instead of tape, and solder instead of wire nuts if you can.
Solder all your rail joints if you wish.

Our stations are bird houses and bird feeders, painted and placed. They will receive more embellishment as we enhance our railway. Main station is in Lackawanna station colors of green and maroon.

A main wire, or trunk wire, running under a model railroad. Shorter branch wires, such as track power feeders, are connected to it.
