Gas Turbine Locomotive A locomotive powered by a gas turbine engine. This type of locomotive was experimented with but never came into regular use. Gauge The distance between the two running rails on a single piece of track.

A variant of the RTG is in use in Canada. The other European companies have stopped their tests with gas turbine traction, because gas turbines consume large amounts of fuel and produce a very loud high frequency noise.

Locomotives included a 4-6-4 Hudson, Aloc C636, EMD F3, GE U50, and a GE gas turbine.
Con-Cor offered building kits made by Heljan (Denmark) and corrugated passenger cars made by Rowa (Germany).

UoS Autonomous Traction A form of traction where the power source is contained wholly on the vehicle (Diesel, gas turbines, battery, flywheel, coal, wood) allowing the vehicle to travel a design range between refuelling.
