Ladders are hard to use. A soldier with a ladder can be shot along the way. If he places his ladder on the wall and enemy defenders are within 1/3 of R1, they can push it off.

If you have a ladder of tracks in a freight yard, the "all-or-none" problem would be prohibitive for proper operation of the ladder with just one switch unless you set up a diode matrix.
The end and side ladders are molded on, and look good, however I'll be removing them to get the bent up look of the car I'm modeling. The drop grabs are also molded on, as are the two end rib strips.
