LGB passenger cars have the brush holder built into the trucks, as do the newer 4 wheel cabooses. You can also skip the 5 volt regulator and use 18 - 24 volt bulbs instead. This costs less but you lose the constant intensity lighting effect.

G gauge was originally defined by LGB as a GAUGE not a scale and being 45mm. LGB created the name although the gauge was used previously as I scale standard gauge and III scale narrow gauge.

Their locos are noisier than their LGB counterparts but consider this: a Bachman 4-6-0 can be had for as little as $80 mail-order and it comes with lights, smoke, & sound. A similiar LGB loco will cost over $500.

G scale: (1:22.5) commonly used for garden layouts. Also called LGB scale. If you like working outdoors, doing real landscaping and gardening, this is the most likely model train scale you'll want to use.

There is also a track-cleaning locomotive, manufacturered by LGB. This unit, though somewhat expensive, has received good reviews. It has two grinding wheels on it that polish up the rail head nicely.
