Use your tweezers to remove the lint from turnouts and wraps around axles. Check for loose wires. Then, demonstrate your favorite ways to clean track and wheels.

Once the track is noticeably dirty, clean the railheads with an abrasive block, liquid track cleaner on a lint-free cloth, or a track-cleaning car. Excessively dirty wheels can make the track dirty in short order.
