Marklin is a German manufacturer of high quality precision model trains. Marklin is the worlds largest manufacturer of model trains, and produces "Z" scale, "N" scale "HO" scale and #1 Gauge large scale trains.

This is a marklin 8895. They graciously sacrifice their mechanism for this gruesome experiment. For those of you leery of slamming down the clams for something that you may ruin, consider this.

Sergent (HO Scale only!)
Sergent couplers are patterned after the prototype, and are a form of knuckle coupler.
However, Marklin's system is not compatible with DCC (Digital Command Control), which was developed by a number of different people and companies and standardized by the National Model Railroad Association in the 1990s.
Large Scale trains were first introduced by Marklin of Germany during the early 1900's. Layouts were set up either in the garden or the attic because of its large size.
Trix Mangold (Minitrix) declared bankruptcy in the 1990s and the assets were purchased by Marklin. The first Marklin produced Minitrix items started appearing in late 2003.
