Multiple Track Crossings
The diagrams above show one circuit board for each protected track at a crossing. It is possible to use one circuit board to protect multiple tracks but fully automatic control is not possible when this is done.

When multiple tracks are involved, or where space does not permit post mounting, other forms are found. In double track territory one may find two signals mounted side by side on a bracket which itself is mounted on a post.
Your model railroad wiring can become quite extensive even on small layouts if you have a lot of remote turnouts, building lights, multiple track blocks, block detectors, etc. Try to remember as you go along to keep your wiring neat.
For instance, if you thought a "yard" meant that there were multiple tracks around and perhaps a switcher or two, you would be wrong. When I found this out I was amazed.
Cars can continue to be humped into all the other groups, and even into all the other tracks in one group while a trimmer engine is working on track within a group, or within multiple tracks of a group.
Line rail. The rail on which alignment is based; the east rail of tangent track running north and south, the north rail of tangent track running east and west, the outer rail on curves, or the outside rails in multiple track territory.
Multiple Track - A section of railway track having more than just one up line and one down line.
