Multiple Unit
This refers to a self powered coach or set of coaches (may also be called motor coaches) that can be operated in multiple, ie. a driver in one unit can control all those so connected. Multiple units can be diesel or electric powered.

MU (Multiple Unit)
Cars or locomotives which contain their own power, but which can be controlled from the foremost car or locomotive; commonly used on commuter trains and diesel locomotives.
Mule
Slang term for brakeman.

All multiple unit air hoses not being used were required to be placed into their holders. The covers on snowplows were supposed to be closed and locked into position.

Multiple unit, a method of controlling several diesel or electric cars or locomotives from one cab. M.U. cars are electric passenger cars for operation on electrified portions of a steam or diesel railroad, as in a suburban district.

Many multiple unit trains consist of cars which are semi-permanently coupled into sets; these sets may be joined together to form larger trains, but generally passengers can only move around between cars within a set.

Diesel multiple unit. Diesel-powered passenger vehicles that replaced steam engines on non-express (suburban, rural, commuter) railway lines.

EMU
Common acronym for Electric Multiple Unit.
Escape Road
A loop adjacent to a platform track at a terminus station, which enables a locomotive to "escape" from the dead end of the terminus, in which it would otherwise be trapped by its coaches.

Note that while the glue was drying on the nose lights, I have prepped and painted the M.U. (Multiple Unit) hoses and pilot plow - they are at the bottom right of the photo.
