On the ground floor of the museum a model representing a Great Western Railway branch line on Dartmoor, originally built to showcase the trains being built for the Vale scene, is operated for visitors.

Once on the ground I observe all the running gear. Wheels are examined for signs of cracks, spalling, shelling or flat spots. The trucks are checked for cracks, or signs of other abnormalities.

These extensions allow us to set the modules on the ground without worrying about snagging the wiring on something. They also make it easier to grab onto the ends when carrying them to and from the display site.

Apply a liberal amount of paint and sprinkle on the ground foam. Additional layers may be needed to blend in with the rest of the scenery. When everything is dry paint the fascia boards the color of your choice.

The groove must be wide enough for the coffee stirrer to fit snugly and deep enough so that the stirrer does not drag on the ground when the car rolls. Larger model Hot Wheels work better to ensure enough ground clearance with the stirrer installed.
