Sectional track:
Not only are the materials for making track not equal, but track comes in different lengths and shapes as well. New modelers generally use the 9 inch long pieces of sectional track that come in sets.

Term used to describe an automotive kit that does not include engine detail.
Launch sections
The launch sections are usually simple to place on models, since majority of roller coasters with them are flat. The following will explain the most common forms of launches.

A type of model railroad layout made up of various smaller sections that are joined together to form the larger layout; designed this way so the layout can be disassembled and/or moved without destroying any major components.

Sectional Track
In model railroading, pieces of track in any scale or gauge manufactured to specific geometric proportions, which can then be joined together in straight lines, curves, and circles.
A section of the North Coast Line was completed from Mackay to Sarina in 1913 and extended to Koumala in 1920 and Carmila in 1921, connecting with the line from Brisbane.

html I've found most more adapted toward scale layouts than sectional tinplate. Moondog Express (see Mikes Trains and Hobbies in Parts) sells real-size cardboard track templates, so you can layout a track pattern without using track.
Absolute Permissive Block (APB) A designated section of track or tracks within which the movement of trains will be governed by block signals, whose indications supersede the superiority of trains.

as a switchman or fireman, I did spend a couple of summers working on the section crew out of there and had plenty of opportunity to observe yard operations. The traffic into and out of Carrie was relatively light.

Rail track segments with 286,000 lbs. or 143-ton car capacity restrictions. A section of track with a 286 restriction cannot handle cars with lading weight of 143 tons or more.

Radius-Minimum--This depends upon the track you are using. The radius of American Flyer curved track is about 19".
American Models code .148 sectional track uses a radius of 27".
Most scale modelers prefer a minimum radii upward of 36".
