SPDT Control of Stall Motor Switch Machines
Push Button Control of Stall Motor Switch Machines
The next schematic shows three methods of controlling Stall Motor Switch Machines with momentary contact push button switches.

SPDT
Single pole, Double throw.
Speed Steps
Controllable voltage increments which are used to control motor speed. With some decoders, the output power can be set for each speed step.

SPDT
Single-pole, double-throw. A type of electrical switch used in model railroading. See DPDT.
Speed table ...

- SPDT (single-pole, double throw) toggle switch to control your turntable motor - forward and reverse.

To wire the layout you will also need five (5) single pole double throw (SPDT) center off toggle switches.

You need: a TTL-level detector for each signaled block, a switch motor with one set of contacts (SPDT) for each interlocked turnout, and a signal circuit for each signal.

Changeover
Type of electrical switch. A single pole changeover switch is called an SPDT (single-pole double-throw) switch in North America. Likewise a double pole changeover is a DPDT (double-pole double-throw) switch.

(DCC fans please note) the Frog and attached rails are connected to the desired outer rail via a SPDT switch actuated by the throwbar or thru contacts of the turnout motor unit.

Connect the coloured wire to the center terminal of the SPDT toggle switch. Connect one diode to each of the end terminals. The line painted on the diode should face toward the switch on one terminal and away from the switch on the other terminal.

SPDT Switch : Single pole double throw. A single-pole changeover switch. Used to switch feed wires from one circuit to the next, as in Cab Control. May have a centre off position.
SPST Switch : Single pole single throw.
