Two inch HO stripwood is available at the hobby shop. Even 1/32" (about 2.7" HO scale) might look fine if your fence is not at the very front of your module. Just do not give the nit pickers a top view.

Chopper — a brand of tool manufactured by Northwest Shortline used to cut stripwood into pieces of the same exact length.

It is entirely built from scratch, stripwood, paper, plastics, and balsa. We used stripwood for the posts and trusses, and scribed paper for the roofing. It is interior lighted to showcase the scratchbuilt machineries inside.

I usually use 1/8" square stripwood. I use an angle plate to frame the four side walls flush with the stripwood. Do the ends of the side walls first getting two sides flush using an internal right angle. Trim the excess with a razor blade.
