Train Line
The complete line of air brake pipes in a train. These lines include the rigid piping secured under the cars and the flexible connections between cars and the locomotive. See Brake Pipe.

Train Line A cable of series of hoses used for connecting electrical or steam (in older passenger equipment). Train of Superior Right A train given precedence by train order.

Brake Pipe Commonly called a train line, it is the pipe, hose, connections, angle cocks, cut-out cocks, fittings, etc.

Train Line In UK parlance, a cable running the length of a train for control or power purposes. It is connected between vehicles by a jumper. The term train line is sometimes used in the US to denote the brake pipe - see Brakes Page.

Some cars have no operating brakes or intact train line. Many times a long flexable hose is used to transmit brake pipe pressure around cars with damaged train lines.

Any issues associated with the train line or air brake system, including leaking gasket, frozen or blocked train line, stuck triple valve.

If the train comes apart, an air hose or train line on a car breaks, or some component of the air brake system breaks or ruptures, the entire train loses its air going into emergency.

Of course, if you are planning a small oval or figure eight type layout, it probably won't take much time to answer these questions. However, if you are building a large layout with 2 or 3 levels of model railroad tracks servicing 3 or 4 train lines ...

Typically a line represents the run of a train, with symbols (such as a filled box for switching, or an empty box for block moves) on the train line indicating towns it works.
