Almost Uncirculated - A coin or paper money note that is very close to being uncirculated. Upon first glance it may appear un-circulated. When inspected closely it will have a slight amount of wear or friction. Same as "About Uncirculated".

Almost Uncirculated - The grades AU50, 53, 55, and 58. A coin with an AU grade initially appears to be in mint state condition. Upon further inspection it is found to have slight friction or rub keeping it from a mint state grade.

aUNC = almost Uncirculated Similar to UNC but with faint traces of wear to the highest points of the design. Expressed in percent, this would not amount to any more than 2%. Care must be taken not to mistake a flat strike with wear.

Current practice allows intermediate grades such as Very Fine-25 or Mint State-62 to be used.

AU - Almost Uncirculated, includes the grades AU50-AU58. Coins that at first glance appear uncirculated but upon closer inspection have light rub or wear and will usually have mint luster still present.

Coins graded as Almost Uncirculated (AU) will look perfect on the surface, but looking closely at the highest points on the coin you can see slight visible signs of wear.

About Uncirculated Alternate of Almost Uncirculated. abrasions Area(s) of a coin where a foreign object or another coin has displaced metal in an abraded fashion.

About Uncirculated - Same as "Almost Uncirculated". Sometimes abbreviated as "AU". abrasion - marks or small scratches on the surface of a coin where another coin or object has slid across or bumped the coin.

" Numismatists use another vocabulary: Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, Fine, Very Fine, Extremely Fine, Almost Uncirculated, Uncirculated, Mint State. Assigning a grade to a coin is an art, not a science.

Slider: A coin that is graded "almost uncirculated", but can pass as an uncirculated specimen.
Strike: The actual Minting or stamping of a coin planchet by its dye. The term may also refer to the quality of a coins definition of detail.

In particular, the half dollar and dollar can be found in almost uncirculated condition if asked for at a bank, since the denominations themselves are unpopular and have remained in vaults for years.

Circulated - A coin that has wear. Circulated coins range in grade from Poor to Almost Uncirculated.
Clad - Composition metal coin with a sandwich layer which is the clad layer, with two outer layers for the obverse and reverse.

Strangely the "Claudius" would thus be missing from the countermark, and the countermark would show on almost uncirculated coins of Claudius.
Another maybe more likely possibility would be to move the time of use to Titus (TIAV = Titus Augustus).
