ENCAPSULATING CERTIFIED COINS
After each coin has been graded and the necessary numbers and text entered into their respective data fields, the coins in a particular box are taken from the Grading Department into the Encapsulation Department.

CERTIFIED coins are always encapsulated by the grading service with the grading service's name, logo and coin information, including the grade of the coin, sealed inside the encapsulation.

Certified coins and modern proof sets are generally housed in non corroding plastic, but all holders are permeable to corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide or sulfur dioxide.

Not all certified coins are equal. We have seen coins that are in reality no better than MS-63's sitting in MS-66 holders. Our records prove that over 1/2 of the Flying Eagle and Indian Cents in slabs today are overgraded or just plain ugly.
