A coin's condition is central to its value. The same type of coin that's worth tens of thousands of dollars in a mint, uncirculated condition can be practically worthless in poor condition.

Franklin Half Dollar Value is Conditional
Collectors and dealers, before they determine value, first examine the condition of each coin and assign a "Grade". The following are descriptions of the grades that are listed on the value chart.

Conditions in the province of Bengal
The governors of the provinces of India had to proclaim him as their suzerain and in some instances minted his coins in the provincial mints.

Condition: The physical state of a coin.
Counterfeit: A fake coin or other piece of currency made so that people will think it's genuine.

Condition Census: a listing of the top examples known of a given coin. For instance, the Condition Census for Large Cents includes the best examples known of a particular variety.

condition census: Term introduced by Dr. William H. Sheldon to denote the finest examples and average condition of next five finest known of a given variety of large cents. Catalogers have extended the use of the term to other series.

Condition or Grade - POOR - FAIR, GOOD, VERY-GOOD, FINE, VERY-FINE, EXTREMELY-FINE and ABOUT UNCIRCULATED - terms describing the degree of wear or circulation a coin has experienced.

Condition
Condition is the most important characteristic in determining the value of a stamp. It refers to the state of a stamp regarding such details as centering, color and gum.

An unofficial absolute rarity rating scheme that indicates the number of expected examples of a coin (by denomination and date) to exist in Original Gem Uncirculated (65) or better condition.

Conditions. Not sure about you, but for us, here on the East Coast winter storms do wonders. It's not always the same as some may think, but generally winter and spring has been real productive with only a few exceptions.

The Condition of a coin relates to it's "Grade" . This is represented by a Letter designation such as F or Fine, EF or Extra Fine, AU for Almost Uncirculated, BU or Brilliant Uncirculated, CU for Choice Uncirculated.

The condition of a coin will always embody a degree of subjectiveness, even in the eyes of experts. Coins are simply not obliging critters. They can rarely be slotted into convenient pigeon holes.

In Fine condition with decent eye appeal, you can expect to pay about $1,200 for a Draped Bust dollar, $160 for a half dollar, $375 for a quarter, $700 for a dime, $950 for a half dime, $110 for a large cent, and $85 for a half cent.

Since the condition of a coin can range from being so worn as to be hardly identifiable to as well preserved as the day it dropped from the dies, the coin grader is obliged to categorize very different looking objects.

Grade - The condition or amount of wear that the specimen has received. Generally, the less wear a coin/note has received, the more valuable it is.

Attribution, condition and other descriptions are the cataloguer's opinion, as attributions and grading standards do evolve.
