Curated

Numismatic Cupro-nickelCurrency

Curated: a recently developed term to describe coins that have been cleaned, but where the cleaning has been so light and well done that it is impossible to tell. Curation will not disqualify a coin from being certified.

Curated Coin
Refers to a coin that has been professionally cleaned to improve the coin's appearance, while at the same time imparting no harm upon the coin. Most buyers accept curated coins without expecting a discount.

If there was an 1857 $20 among the treasure found, the writers are not aware of it as this coin is being catalogued (on April 5, 2000), at which time we do not have a full inventory of the treasure, as items are still being curated.
