Throughout the 1790s heads continued to roll off the guillotines of France as that country struggled to affirm the democratic principles it had first espoused in 1789.
Far more common are the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle reverse dimes of 1798 through 1807. But only the relatively high mintages of 1805 and 1807 makes this type of Draped Bust dime available to most collectors.

Draped Bust quarter eagles saw production in eight years between 1796 and 1807, totaling 19,487 coins, encompassing eleven recognized varieties. More rarities are in this short-lived series than common dates.
Draped bust of Washington facing right. Originally struck as a Proof with considerable mirrored finish remaining. Light gray, slightly darker on the highest points. The obverse die was engraved by George H. Lovett, most likely in the 1860s.
The Draped Bust quarter variety is hugely popular, with strong demand and values. The Capped Bust quarter variety is more easily obtainable with more moderate values. Both are very collectible and treasured.
