F-15 This is for "Fine" (the grade) and "15" (the numerical designation of the grade). Most of the letters in LIBERTY are visible, about 35-50% of the wing feathers are visible, or whatever applies to the coin in question.

 


It corresponds to F-12 and F-15 of the current accepted grading standards. A Fine coin will have some detail present in the recessed areas. However, it is not sharp and there are some details still missing.

If I were to sell you a coin as a F-15 and it was called a F-12 by several grading services you might not be pleased with me, ...

While not included in the ANA standards, intermediate grades like AU-53, VF-35, F-15 and G-6 are used by some dealers and grading services.

Fine - Term for the grades F-12 and F-15.
Fineness - The purity of a precious metal coin, usually expressed as a percentage one thousand parts. For example, the Standing Liberty Quarter is .900 Fine = 90% silver.

Sometimes you will see coins graded in in-between numbers such as F-15 or VG-10 or VF/XF. There is typically not very much of a premium for these in-between grades, so in many cases they can represent a good value.

fine - Fine is a medium grade for a coin. Fair on the Sheldon scale is F-12 and F-15. A Fine coin will have some detail present. However, it is not sharp and there is a lot of details missing.

an example of this very rare variety from a 72 dpi scan that was available over the web for about five weeks before the auction. The auction catalog did not give the weight or diameter of the token but mentioned the example has a PCGS grade of F-15.
