On coins of the Flaminia, Fulvia, and Caecilia families it is seen over the sella curuilis, indicating that Curule Ediles were likewise invested with magisterial power.
The bridge is part of the Via Flaminia and spans the Tiber River a few miles north of Rome. The bridge may have originally been constructed of wood in 220 BC, but was rebuilt with stone in 109 BC.

Aemilianus marched to Rome to assert his right to rule. Some time in August 253, the two forces clashed near Interamna Nahars, close to the southern terminus of the eastern branch of the Flaminian Way.
