Galba, 3 April 68 - 15 January 69 A.D.
Galba was governor of Hispania Tarraconensis when proclaimed emperor by his troops on 3 April 68. The Senate recognized his authority in July 68.

Galba [b. 3 b.c.] had a distinguished record as a general and governor when he was proclaimed Emperor during the revolts preceding the death of Nero.

This coin is obviously polished and possibly tooled to restore lost detail. If a coin is tooled, details restored must belong to the coin. A Julia Domna tooled into a Manlia Scantilla is fraud no matter how you grade the result! ...

Under the Emperors Galba, and perhaps Trajan, Thebes issued bronze coins bearing magistrates' names preceded by ΕΠΙ and their titles, Archiereus, or Polemarch (Head, Coinage of Boeotia, p. 95).
