The value of an Indian Penny ranges from 75 cents to $1.50 for common dates in worn condition.
However... here are three ways to find a higher value.
First, if your coin was minted in the early years 1859 through 1878 most are worth $5 to $20 or more.

Indian penny Slang for an Indian Head cent.
Intrinsic value The value of the metal(s) contained in a numismatic item. The United States issues contained their intrinsic value in metal until 1933 for gold coins and 1964 for silver coins.

Indian penny - Synonym for Indian Head cent.
Ingot - An oblong piece of cast metal, usually of gold or silver, with weight and fineness specified used in the production of coins.

Indian Penny: the U.S. One Cent coins struck from 1859-1909.
inscription: the wording or legends on a coin.
intrinsic value: the metal or bullion value of a coin, regardless of the face or collector value.
