Edge Inscription - Lettering on the edge of a coin which makes up a motto, first used on Cromwell coins. The inscription made it impossible to clip a coin.

Reverse inscription
The reverse inscription [4] reads DNCONSTANTINVSMAXAVG. DN is the abbreviation for Dominus Noster, "Our Lord". CONSTANTINVS is again his name, followed by MAX, the abbreviation of Maximus, and again AVG for Augustus.

The inscriptions on the coins are either in Russian or are bilingual, Russian and Arabic. The bilingual issues were common during the Mongol domination.

This is for "Mint State" (the grade) and "60" (the numerical designation of that grade). This is the lowest of the eleven Mint State grades that range from MS60 through MS70.

The inscription "Michel unbesiegt aber betrogen" (Michel, undefeated but betrayed) is referring to the Dolchstoßlegende (Dagger stab legend).

Roman coin inscriptions contain numerous abbreviations which are rarely separated by punctuation marks.

Legend Inscription in a circle around the outside of the coin.
Mint mark Symbol or letters in the design of coin to indicate the mint of its origin.

The original inscription on the cross would have been "FOR BRAVERY" but this was amended to "FOR VALOUR" on the recommendation of Queen Victoria who thought some might erroneously consider that only recipients were brave in battle.

On the reverse, the inscription ONE DIME appeared within a wreath, and that in turn was encircled by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
